From the moment that this movie started until well after it finished, I was rolling in laughter... this was just that damn good!
The whole concept, FX & characters look like they were plucked right out of a Troma movie. A priest that is shot and the wounds shapped a cross on his chest, a gun that the priest buys and calls "The Lord", transvestites with machine guns wearing orange, pink and I think there was a blue(?) wig and even Satan himself makes an appearance!
A mild-mannered priest Father Bane (played by Ryan LaPlante), has watched his neighborhood turn to shit. He tries to 'save' as many as he could but was not really having any success. After he is shot by the 'underground boss' and miraculously survives, he becomes hell-bent on taking the streets back from the prostitutes, drug dealers, junkies, thieves and whatever else crosses his path.
People actually start becoming afraid of the Father Bane.. something that he enjoys. Ryan pulls off 2 of the greatest 1 liners I've ever heard... when asked about forgiveness - he responds "Fogiveness for some, bullets for the rest" and when he's about to blow away a bad guy and is told "God says thou shall not kill" his repsonse - "I'm giving God the day off" then BLAMMM bad guy dead. Sure it was set-up perfectly for the home runs, but to hear them at the time they're said was freaking comedy gold!
Kudos also goes out to Alysa King who plays the paraplegic girlfriend of Father Bane that gets more and more turned on with each of Bane's kills. She even gives the Father a cross that is actually a hidden knife.
This is a non-apologetic over-the-top blood gushing just to have blood soon to be a B-movie classic. If you are easily offended, walk away. If you love those 80's-90's splatter-exploitation movies then this is one you should definitely add to your collection! A new generation of Troma has arrived and its called 'Holy Hell'! Which is ironic because after the screening, Ryan stated that he had never seen a Troma movie until this was out... huh... oh well... intention or not, NICELY DONE!!
